Ollie Dude was a "Red Persian" he was born in Weston Super Mare, his orginal owners emigrated to Australia when Ollie was about 18 months old, he then went to live with a friend of mine, after surviving an horrendous car journey from WSM to Swindon 76 miles in a car with 4 screaming children,he must have been terrified, he lived at my friends for approx 2 years, then one day I said to my friend either she takes more care of Ollie or I would take him from her, he wasnt ill treated but she had 4 children and a Boxer Dog and a Pyrenean Mountain Dog , and as a result he spent most of his life under her bed.

Later that night theres a knock on my door and theres my friend complete with Ollie, he lived with me from that day onwards until his Death, he was my best friend my baby, my world, I loved him to bits nothing was too much trouble.

Ollie was very clever he and I communicated telepathically I guess, not sure how it was but I always knew what he wanted.
Ollie was such a pretty cat, he loved to be brushed, I even got in cat sitters for him if I went out, nothing was too much trouble, or expense, Ollie always slept on my bed with me often on the pillow next to mine, he never lost his playfulness.

He first started to deteriorate about 18 months before he died, his back legs kept giving out under him, I took him to the vets several times in the end I suggested the Vets keep him in to observe him because they werent seeing what I was, well he was kept in the Pets Hospital over the weekend and the vets eventually spotted what I had seen, and on the Monday he was sent for an MRI Scan this revealed his spine was damaged he also had 2 discs out of place that were pressing on his spine, I could tell he was in pain.

On Monday 11th December 2006 I let him go, that was the hardest decision Ive ever had to make, it killed me to let him go but I had to I couldnt just sit back and watch him suffer, I felt so guilty afterwards.

I only hope he knows somehow I did as I did for him, I would have kept him forever, if I could but I loved him enough to know I had to let him go, I couldnt have watched him suffer and deteriorate even more, that wouldnt have been fair.

God Bless you My Ollie Dude Mummy misses you so very very much. Please know I didnt want to let you go, I had no choice.

Im so sorry. XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Angel Harps
(by Terri Onorato)

Last night I saw you in my dreams
a brilliant light engulfed your soul.
And through my sleepy reverie
a glorious message did unfold.

The voice was that of angel harps
as you told me of the way
in which the bridge kids celebrate
this extraordinary day.

A radiant warmth ran through me
when you tenderly detailed
a special place I'd never been
where splendid love prevails.

You told me how the bridge kids
hold their paws and pray
for peace on earth, goodwill toward men
on this special, holy day.

Each bridge kid makes a heartfelt wish
to the Keeper of the stars,
they wish each stray a new-found home
without concrete floors and bars.

They ask that every homeless one
the Keeper not forget
for each one has the soul to be
a loyal, loving pet.

I watch you drift away from me
as in early dawn I find
the spirit of your paw-print message
still vivid in my mind.

I hold the message near my heart
and with a smile I hear
a lullaby of angel harps
singing in my ear.

Precious Love

The agony is so great...
and yet I will stand it.
Had I not loved so very much...
I would not hurt so much.
But God knows I would not want to diminish
that precious love...
By one fraction of an ounce.
I will hurt...
And I will be grateful for that hurt
For it bears witness to the depth of my love.
And for that I will be eternally grateful.

Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge...
Just this side of heaven,is a place called
Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies, that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills, for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.

There is plenty of food, water and sunshine,
and our friends are warm and comfortable

All the animals who had been ill and old
are restored to health and vigor;
those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and
strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams
of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
His bright eyes are intent; his eager body quivers.

Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.

The happy kisses rain upon your face;
your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet,
so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

A THOUSAND TIMES WE'VE NEEDED YOU
A THOUSAND TIMES WE'VE CRIED
IF LOVE ALONE COULD HAVE SAVED YOU
YOU WOULD NEVER OF DIED
A HEART OF GOLD STOPPED BEATING
TWO TWINKLING EYES CLOSED TO REST
GOD BROKE OUR HEARTS TO PROVE HE ONLY TAKES THE BEST
NEVER A DAY GOES BY THAT YOUR NOT IN MY HEART AND SOUL.

They will not go quietly,
the pets who've shared our lives.
In subtle ways they let us know
their spirit still survives.

Old habits still can make us think
we hear them at the door
Or step back when we drop
a tasty morsel on the floor.

Our feet still go around the place
the food dish used to be,
And, sometimes, coming home at night,
we miss them terribly.

And although time may bring new friends
and a new food dish to fill,
That one place in our hearts
belongs to them...
and always will.
